  • Record Sales of $20.9M; +26% from Prior Year and +27% in Constant Currency - ICL revenues increased 37% WW; +118% in APAC, +29% in EIMEA, -1% in NA
  • Gross Margin improved 13.6 points; 70.3% Compared to Prior Year of 56.7% - Favorable product mix, lower unit & other costs, and higher avg. selling prices, partially offset by negative impact of weaker euro
  • Operating Expense increased 12% from Prior Year - Due to investments in quality system improvements, Germany comparison, headcount
  • Net Loss of 2 Cents per Share; Adjusted Net Income of 1 Cent per Share
  • Cash of $13.4M vs. $16.1M at 3Q15 and $13.8M at Prior Year End - Driven by addition of $2.9M in accounts receivable due to higher December sales

Professional Profile

  • Pioneering work as Medical Monitor for the Japanese ICL Study.
  • Chief Professor and Chairman of the Dept. of Ophthalmology at the Kitasato University, School of Medicine in Kanagawa (Japan).
  • In 1989 developed ICLs that allowed surgeons to implant with clear corneal incisions as small as 2.8 mm.
  • His latest innovation introduced in 2011 was the KS-Aquaport, the Visian ICL with CentraFLOW technology (V4c model).
  • Authored over 70 peer-reviewed articles.
  • Recipient of the Visian ICL Expert of the Experts Award in 2004, Toric ICL 100 Award in 2008, ICL V4 Life Time Award in 2009, ICL Scientific Publication Award in 2010, 2012-2015, ICL Outstanding Contribution for Scientific Innovation Award in 2011 and the ICL Applied Research & Development Award 2012, Best Paper Presentation Award in 2013, Visian ICL - Pioneering Visionary (PVA) Award in 2014.

  • Specialist cataract and refractive surgeon at the Institute of Ocular Microsurgery (IMO) in Barcelona (Spain).
  • Fields of interest include excimer laser and femtosecond laser, intrastromal refractive surgery, phakic refractive IOL implantation for the correction of high refractive errors, MICS techniques, femtophaco, toric and multifocal IOLs for presbyopia correction.
  • Author of numerous national and internationally indexed publications.
