[ESCRS 2025]My preferred choice for presbyopic patients Combining PresbyMAX with KLEx
At the ESCRS 2025 in Copenhagen, Dr. David Kang from EYEREUM EYE CLINIC (Seoul, Korea) presented his clinical experience and research on advanced treatments for myopic presbyopia patients.
In this lecture, Dr. Kang shared his preferred approach by combining corneal wavefront–guided PresbyMAX in the near eye with KLEX (Plasma-optimized Lenticule Extraction) in the dominant eye.

He highlighted:
The challenges of traditional presbyopia correction and why micro-anisometropia with controlled spherical aberration offers better outcomes
Clinical evidence published in Journal of Cataract & Refractive Surgery (2023)
How negative spherical aberration enhances depth of field and near visual acuity
Three-month results of nearly 100 patients showing excellent binocular vision (100% achieved 20/20 distance vision and J2 near vision)
Considerations for future cataract surgery in patients who previously underwent PresbyMAX and KLEX
This innovative approach demonstrates a safe and effective option for presbyopia correction in patients in their late 40s to mid-50s, where lens-based solutions are not yet optimal.
