02 Examination Time and Eyeglasses
The entire process will take more than 2 hours. The preliminary screening includes 51 tests to check your sight, cornea condition, cornea thickness and pupil size. With the results, the best surgical method is decided on. (Please remember to bring your glasses on the day of your examination)

03 Contact Lenses
For an accurate evaluation of your eyes, please stop wearing contact lenses before the examination day more than 5 days for soft lens, more than 10 days for hard lenses or astigmatism soft lenses, and more than 1 month for dream lens.

04 Driving
It may be dangerous to drive after the examination, so we recommend you use public transportation.

05 Pregnancy • Nursing
If you are pregnant or planning pregnancy, we recommend you wait 3 months after childbirth. And if you have recently given birth, we recommend taking the examination after you have stopped breast-feeding.

01 Contact Lens
Wearing contact lenses can swell or twist the cornea, so once you have decided on surgery, we recommend you stop wearing your contact lenses, so your cornea can return to its normal state: 5 days for soft lenses, 10 days for hard (RGP) lenses and more than 30 days for dream lenses.

02 Drinking
We recommend you avoid heavy drinking the day before surgery.

03 Makeup
Apart from the basic skin-toner and lotion, please avoid everything else including BB cream, sun screen and other cosmetics.

04 Bathing
You will have to avoid taking a shower for a few days after surgery, so we insist you bathe beforehand.

05 Perfumes
As the lasers are very sensitive, please do not use any perfumes or strong scented hair products.

06 Driving
It will be dangerous to drive afterwards, so we strongly insist that you are accompanied by a guardian or use public transportation.

07Cosmetic Procedures
Perms and hair dye should be done at least a week before surgery. However, cosmetic surgery, skin laser procedures and semi-permanent makeup procedure should be avoided for 6 weeks before and after your laser eye surgery.
- Apart from the basic skin-toner and lotion, please avoid using anything else. As the lasers are very sensitive, please refrain from using any perfume or strong scented hair products.
- Clothing: As the surgery takes place while you are lying down, we recommend comfortable clothing other than skirts.
- Things you will need: Sunscreen lotion, sunglasses or protective glasses, and a wide-brimmed hat
- After you enter the surgery room, you will be reminded of the surgery precautions, and the area around your eyes will be disinfected.
- The anesthetic eye drops will alleviate you of any pain during the surgery, however you may feel a pull when your eyes are fixed open.
- Once you are lying down, please look closely at the blinking green light in front of you A small support is used to gently hold your eyelids open to keep you from blinking during the procedure.
- Even if you feel you want to close them, you should try to relax and keep them open.
- For about 3 hours after surgery, you may find it difficult to open your eyes. Your eyes may even be bloodshot or full of tears, so we recommend that you are accompanied with a guardian.
LASIK surgery is divided into two stages: stage 1 cutting of the cornea, and stage 2 vision correction
Stage 1
- The first stage cuts the cornea to make the corneal flap.
- As you are lying on the surgery bed, please gaze into the green light in the middle of a circle.
- As the corneal flap is being produced, please don’t be alarmed as you may have a blurry vision for about 6~7 seconds. Just try to stay as relaxed as possible.
- As the first stage is complete, you may feel coldness or tears.
Stage 2
- The second stage is the actual vision correction stage.
- Stay focus on the green light that is blinking in front of you.
- Even if the light seems halo, you should keep still and keep staring at the light.
- A thin layer of epithelium is gently moved aside to correct myopia and astigmatism.
- The surgery takes place in one easy stage.
- Brush surgery: When opening the corneal flap with a brush, you may feel pressure and a slight vibration, but you should keep staring at the light in front of you.
- All laser surgery: A precise laser opens the corneal flap instead of a brush. You should keep staring at the light.
- ReLEx SMILE doesn’t involve cutting the cornea. A lenticule and a small incision of 1~2mm is created inside the intact cornea.
- The surgery takes place in one easy stage.
- All you have to do is just relax and keep staring at the light in front of you.

01 Surgery Day
You should take as much rest as possible and avoid closing your eyes tight or rubbing them or wrinkles may form on the corneal flap.

02 During Vision Recovery
While recovering, your eyesight in both eyes may differ. The day after surgery, you should reach a vision above 0.9, however may experience blurred vision which should disappear within the next couple of weeks.

03 Pain
You won’t feel pain but a slight stinging feeling for 3~4 hours after surgery.

04 Eye drops
Please follow the amount and time of dosage of the prescribed eye drops. As each patient will have a different prescription, you will be informed of yours after surgery.

05 While Sleeping
You should avoid rubbing your eyes for a week.

06 Washing & Bathing
3 days after surgery, facial washing, shampooing, and taking a shower are permitted. Please be careful not to get any soap or shampoo in your eyes. Taking a bath should be avoided for 2 weeks, and dry or wet saunas are allowed after 1 month.

07 Makeup & Hair Treatment
Facial cosmetics such as the basic skin moisturizers and BB cream are allowed after 3 days, but you should avoid eye makeup like eye liners and mascaras for 1 week. Perms and hair dyes should be avoided for 1 month.

Light exercise is allowed after 1 week, but heavy exercise such as weight training, swimming or skiing should be avoided for 1 month.

The proactive lens will be removed 3~4 days after surgery. But depending on your cornea, you may have to have them in for a couple more days.

06 Washing & Bathing
Usually 3 days after surgery, you are allowed to wash. However, it may differ depending on your recovery condition and so you should follow your doctor’s instructions.
