Dr. David Sung Yong Kang Delivers Lectures on PresbyMAX and Plasma KLEx at the Schwind User Meeting in Bangkok

At the Schwind User Meeting held in Bangkok, Thailand,

Dr. David Sung Yong Kang of Eyereum Eye Clinic delivered a comprehensive lecture on the PresbyMAX workflow, clinical application, and surgical procedure.

During his presentation, Dr. Kang explained the core principles of PresbyMAX presbyopia correction,

sharing clinical insights on how to maintain negative spherical aberration of the cornea while enhancing near vision.

He emphasized that presbyopia correction surgery is not merely about improving visual acuity,

but requires precise surgical planning that also considers future cataract surgery.

Presbyopia and Cataract Surgery after Previous Laser Vision Correction

Dr. Kang also addressed the management of patients who have previously undergone

laser vision correction procedures such as LASIK or LASEK.

He highlighted that when such patients later require presbyopia correction or cataract surgery,

corneal normalization treatments to correct irregular corneal optics should be performed first,

followed by presbyopia-cataract surgery, in order to achieve higher-quality visual outcomes.

These recommendations were supported by actual surgical outcomes and clinical results.

Live Clinical Experience Shared by an Ophthalmologist Patient

In July, Dr. Kishore Pradhan, an ophthalmologist who personally underwent PresbyMAX surgery performed by Dr. Kang,

attended the meeting in person and shared his firsthand surgical experience and postoperative visual improvement.

His presentation received significant attention from the audience.

Plasma KLEx Lecture

In a separate lecture on Plasma KLEx,

Dr. Kang introduced methods to significantly reduce corneal higher-order aberrations

during lenticule extraction procedures such as SMILE,

based on study results published in the Journal of Refractive Surgery.

Commitment to Ongoing Research

to provide optimal, evidence-based vision correction solutions

for patients both in Korea and internationally.
