[ASCRS 2026] SMILE, Presbyopia, and Cataract Research from Eyereum Eye Clinic

Three studies from Eyereum Eye Clinic were accepted at the 2026 American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS), one of the world’s leading meetings in cataract and refractive surgery.

The accepted studies focused on:

  • Quality of vision after SMILE surgery
  • Presbyopia and cataract treatment in eyes with previous refractive surgery
  • The importance of precise diagnostics and customized surgical planning

1. Clinical Outcomes of Sequential Corneal Wavefront-Guided TPRK and EDOF IOL Implantation in Patients with Significantly Aberrated Corneas

The study evaluated patients with irregular corneas after previous vision correction surgery.

After customized corneal treatment (CustomEyes), EDOF intraocular lenses were implanted, showing stable distance and near vision outcomes with reduced visual disturbances such as glare and halos.

2. Presbyopia Correction Using Bi-Aspheric Ablation Profile in Eyes with Previous Laser Vision Correction

The study demonstrated that presbyopia correction using PresbyMAX improved both distance and near vision even in eyes that had undergone previous LASIK or LASEK surgery.

The findings highlighted the importance of detailed diagnostics and individualized surgical planning in previously operated eyes.

3. The Impact of Center of Wavefront Measurement on Visual Outcomes after KLEx

This study analyzed how different wavefront measurement reference points can influence visual outcomes after lenticule-based refractive surgery (KLEx/SMILE).

The results emphasized that accurate diagnostics and customized planning may play an important role in postoperative quality of vision, including night vision and glare.

Eyereum Eye Clinic continues to focus on precise diagnostics, customized surgical planning, and quality of vision through ongoing clinical research and international academic collaboration.
